W3C validation and SEO?

by Web6 on May 18, 2010

I am so happy to be able to fix my w3c validator errors yesterday lol. I wanted to write post about it last night but i chose to sleep early last night. It’s because two nights ago, my little daughter did my head in.

Back to blogging stuff, I think validating your site or blog to have cleaner coding is important both for us and for our visitors. Especially i have read in forums and we all now know that how fast your site loads will be an element to increase or decrease your page rank as well as your SERP. I was, then, bothered to check my both websites, blog.web6.org and this one. Blog web6 has lots of codes, so i chose it to be first checked. Besides, i made the theme myself, so i thought it would be easier to find and fix the errors.

In blog web6 i got 63 errors and 13 warnings! I was worried, honestly not because i’m worried about the page rank, but i was more worried if my visitors need forever to view my site which is mostly videos.  And of course, worried about the SERP too. (I always try to put my visitors first, and then search engines, still failing sometimes, but trying again and again).

So i spent about half an hour in w3c validator and tried to fix here and there. About 30% my error codes were caused by wordpress plugins! Not to mention which one, but i remove some, and the error went decreasing. I was relieved, and still tried to fix other error codes which are mostly made by myself and picture embedding in my sidebar (adverstisement image too).

At the end, i was so excited to see the green valid sign that applied successfully for my blog web6. That made me curious on checking this blog as well. But fortunately this blog had only 3 errors, because of code modifying. I am using neoclassical theme by Chris Pearson for the info. But i modify some codes myself, and that occured some errors in validator. But not much, how exciting it is to see the errors, and fixing it, it is like i improve my html and css coding knowlegde! I am so interested on them that’s why i wanted to validate my blogs. I will make a screencast today on how to do this, and if you have any opinions or thoughts, shoot me your feedbacks, or easily vote for my polls down in the sidebar :D

Aaaah no worries there, most people don’t care about it, it’s just personal preference, i also only validate my landing page, which is “home” :)
